I'm feeling like I do most days: afraid yet hopeful for the future, proud to be American, thankful for my health, my legs, my family and my work. I had a more personal 9/11 awakening 4 yrs before when my father died suddenly, without notice, age 46 of a heart attack. It was then that I realized family bonds, love, generosity and kindness were the most important and my highest aspirations. 9/11 only solidified that further for me. Yet that day also struck anger in me, angry that innocent people and families are sometimes taken I'm the name of some foolish political hyperbole, angry that politicians would use this atrocious event for years to instill fear in average Americans just for the sake of a vote. I still can't believe how easily manipulated most of us are when it comes to this fear. so I guess today I'm feeling like I'm ready to be more inspired by our so-called leaders. I'm ready for the unity we experienced post 9/11 bit without the tragedy. Oh, and thanks for asking :)

    Jessica,

Thanks for your personal sharing. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your father so suddenly. I would say that the one most powerful thing I learned from the events is empathy. Feeling more alive in every kind of way is such a gift. You are not alone in looking for inspiration from our leaders. As for me, I opted not to watch or read any major news today. I can't even stand to look.
